The Sunday Otome Gaming Mail: Issue #27

Hello again, readers!

While it’s been a very slow week for site updates, the major news side of things have picked up. Aside from the slew of titles announced by Otomate during the Otomate Party 2016 event, the biggest news this week would probably be the mammoth 756mb trial of Blackish House Side A→. Moujuu-tachi to Ohime-sama and Oumagatoki ~Kakuriyo no Enishi~ were reviewed by Famitsuu, being awarded Famitsuu Silver and Famitsuu Gold respectively. Dogenzaka Labs released their third localisation this month, which is My Butler (Shitsuji no Prince-sama) that was made available on Steam earlier this week.

+ Reporting period: 15/8/2016~21/8/2016 +

New game announcements:

  • My Butler [English localisation] by Dogenzaka Labs
  • KLAP!! ~Kind Love And Punish~ FD [fandisc, tentative title] by Otomate, Design Factory
  • Chouchou Jiken by Otomate, Red Entertainment
  • Nil Admirari no Tenbin: Teito Genwaku Kitan Zoku-hen [sequel, tentative title] by Otomate
  • Shinobi, Koi Utsutsu -Setsugekka Koi Emaki- FD [fandisc, tentative title] by Otomate
  • Variable Barricade by Otomate, Design Factory
  • Kurenai no Homura Sanada Ninpou-chou by Otomate, Design Factory

Release date announcements and delays:

Teaser site or website launches:

The trial of Blackish House Side A→ was uploaded to the official website on 19/8. It is very much on the larger size compared to most otome game trials at 756mb. According to the latest staff blog post, the demo covers the in-game period between April and June, which takes place during the common route.

Japanese mobile otome game developers Dogenzaka Labs continue to be prolific in their mobile-to-PC, English-to-Japanese Steam port efforts, having released three games within the last month: The Amazing Shinsengumi: Heroes in Love (Shinsengumi Amazing ~Hoteru Karada to Koien~) released on 27/7, Office lovers (Kougai Kinshi!! (Mitsu) Office Love) released on 08/8 and My Butler (Shitsuji no Prince-sama) released on 15/8. The first two escaped my attention, so apologies to all readers for this!

The Queen’s Crown Kickstarter has been fully funded. The campaign is now sitting at US$6,117/$4,000 funded by 158 backers with 21 days to go until its end. The developers, Agashi, have also noted that as of 18/8, there is less than $2,000 to go until the first stretch goal is reached. They have also updated the campaign with a Q&A session with one of the game’s characters, Emry.

The Kickstarter campaign for Audilis’ Love is a Game successfully concluded on 21/8. They’ve raised a total of US$18,236/11,000 by 386 backers. In addition, two out of seven of their stretch goals were reached, which means that the game will now have its very own theme song and extra CGs for every route.

The main seiyuu cast of Otomate’s Shiro to Kuro no Alice has been unveiled:

  • Rain (Black Rabbit) – Umehara Yuuichirou
  • Snow (White Rabbit) – Masuda Toshiki
  • Minette (Chesire Cat) – Kimura Ryouhei
  • Jack (Knave of Hearts) – Okitsu Kazuyuki
  • Nello (March Hare) – Shimono Hiro
  • Kanon (The Mad Hatter) – Hanae Natsuki

The results of the Twitter poll Stellatica conducted for Gunjou no Yuki last week have been announced. Stellatica asked their readers whose route they’re the most interested in playing. The character with the most votes will get a special short story with the protagonist Takigawa Nanase. The final placements are as follows:

  1. Touma – 48%
  2. Tsukasa – 28%
  3. Fujima – 15%
  4. Hagiwara – 9%

In the 01/9/2016 issue of Famitsuu Weekly magazine’s Famitsuu Cross Review (released on 18/8/2016), Moujuu-tachi to Ohime-sama and Oumagatoki ~Kakuriyo no Enishi~ were reviewed. Moujuu-tachi to Ohime-sama scored 30 (8/7/8/7), netting it a Famitsuu silver award and Oumagatoki ~Kakuriyo no Enishi~ scored 32 (9/8/8/7), earning a Famitsuu Gold award. For those unfamiliar with the Famitsuu Cross Review scoring system, it involves a panel of 4 game critics reviewing the same game with each critic giving it a score from 0~10. This makes 40 the highest possible score, with awards of distinction being given to games earning: 30~31/40 = Famitsuu Silver, 32~34/40 = Famitsuu Gold and 35+/40 = Famitsuu Platinum.

On their Facebook post made on 17/8Taishou x Alice localisers E2 Gaming have provided some updates on their progress. The first game out of the four, Episode I, has been fully translated. A sample of this can be viewed on the image attached to the aforementioned post. Moreover, E2 were able to privately raise more funds, so they no longer require crowd fundraising. Thanks to the said private raising of funds, E2 will now be able to provide Spanish translations of the game.

In their latest staff blog update, Daisy2 have announced that a visual fanbook of their hit second title, Zettai Kaikyuu Gakuen ~Eden with roses and phantasm~ is in the works. No further details have been disclosed at this stage.

  1. Quite a busy week this week! It’s always a little exciting when everything picks up lol so I’m looking forward to seeing how some of these games develop over the coming months. Super excited, my Collar x Malice is scheduled to arrive on Monday and I’m so ready to play it despite my super long backlog of half finished games hahaha _(:’3ノヽ)ノ

And finally, an update from E2 gaming. Honestly thought they’d just be silent forever and fade into the background and never deliver on all their promises lol. Lmao I definitely read the whole “private funds” thing and got this super shady vibe from it hahahaha but it’s nice that there will be a Spanish option and it won’t have to be crowd funded. A lot of games are going the route of getting crowd funded/doing a kickstarter, which makes sense for smaller indie studios. I have mixed feelings on crowd funding but that’s a discussion for another day lol.

As usual, thanks for all your hard work!!! \\\٩( ‘ヮ’ )و ///

    • You’re welcome as always, Usagii!

Please forgive my lateness in replying to you… T__T

Have you started Collar x Malice yet? Either way, I really hope you enjoy it! It seems like it’s doing well for itself review-wise.

Yeah, I really want to know who E2 Gaming’s “private investor” is. It certainly has a dodgy aura emanating from it, LOL. I feel like there are a ton of crowdfunded VNs popping up in the last year or so, and I too, have mixed feelings about it all…

Sorry again for the late reply!

  2. Emiko-chan

Hello! Thank you so much for doing these updates! For Fashioning little miss lonesome, Mangagamer on their twitter has stated it is 7% translated!
    Link to direct source:

I can’t wait for the other games!

    • I don’t believe I’ve seen you comment before, Emiko-chan, so welcome to the blog!

Yes, I have been keeping an eye on the Twitter updates regarding the Bocchi Musume localisation. I think I’ll start including them as updates from now on. Now they’re at 10%, yay!

I’m happy that my posts are useful to you. Thanks for reading them! =)

  3. Looks seriously like most mobile otoges are coming to Steam
I wonder if Taisho Alice will be voiced, they didn’t even confirm this…

    • Nice to see you here, Annesthesya!

Yeah, Dogenzaka Lab has been on a roll… Even if some games are… “Better received” than others, shall we say. I did get Pub Encounter when it got discounted during Steam’s summer sale. I don’t hear fantastic things about DL’s games, but I still wanted to check out one of their localisations for myself, anyhow.

About Taishou Alice, I’m wondering the same thing as well. I really wonder if the “private funds” will cover the rights to the voice acting… It worries me they’re staying mum about that aspect.

      Thank you for reading! =D

      • Annesthesya

I’ve been stalking your blog for a while, just too shy to comment ฅ(*°ω°*ฅ) Their games must be good for those who likes Voltage & Shall we Date. I don’t really like otome mobile apps… so not really interested 😛
I’m thinking about just getting the Vita port in japanese, I saw the ‘preview’ for TA I and… sigh. Why couldn’t be Mangagamer or Sekai project to localize, or just someone capable. For me Taisho x Alice looks really promising, I don’t want to miss this game.

        • Hello again!

Oh, is that right? xD Thank you for coming out of lurking! However, you’re very much free to return to lurking, if you so choose. =)

Yeah, I’m not a fan of mobile games as well. I thought I should try to give the experience one more shot (hence me buying Pub Encounter), but after that… Unless Gossip Girl ends up on some NON-free-to-play format by some divine miracle, nope.

Taishou x Alice is a fantastic game! I couldn’t agree more, though. I really wish a company more… “trustworthy” oversaw the localisation of such an interesting game. I certainly don’t fall into the “well, at least it’s getting localised to some extent” side of the argument, to say the very, very least. xP

          • Annesthesya

Thanks! I’ll try to comment more on otoge blogs ^_^
I used to download some mobile otoge when I was really bored, but I don’t remember completing not even one route. Just in ‘Shall we Date? The Nilfheim’. Found it to be better than the average mobile otoge, but then again, I just completed one route. What got me interested in the game in first place was the setting, artwork style and the characters. Maybe one day I’ll play another route since I found the game interesting.
I really wanted to believe E2Gaming somehow, but at this point… yep. Well, let’s wait and see when they release, though ofc I don’t have high hopes.

Don't be shy, leave a reply!
