The Sunday Otome Gaming Mail: Issue #1

BrightnessAccordionCalendarjpg

Greetings, readers!

Welcome to the first issue of The Sunday Otome Gaming Mail. In these weekly posts, I’ll be publishing the information I collate to keep track of the otome world. I’ve been thinking about how a lot of the information I collect doesn’t end up on this blog or even in the monthly posts. So I thought, “why not post major news/site updates every Sunday?” It won’t be as lengthy and detailed as the event or monthly posts, but I thought it’d be nice to have small bits of information to chew on in between the main posts.

Before we get stuck into it, I just wanted to state a few things.

While many information updates technically count as site updates as well, I’ve opted to exclude certain types from the “Site Updates” part of the Sunday Mail. This is because they’re more important and/or one-off. These exclusions are things like changes to release dates, trials, any DLC, any fix patches I hear about, preorder bonuses, cast interviews, countdown voices, master up announcements/illustrations, etc.

Titles that are tagged in the Sunday Mail posts are games that have been mentioned in the general news part (i.e. before the “Site Update” section). Only titles involved in “major” news will get tagged.

Now, without further ado, the first issue:

+ Reporting period: 15/2/2016~21/2/2016 +

~ [R18+] Bocchi Musume x Produce Keikaku. released a trial! The trial itself contains no sexual content as far as I’m aware but parts of the site are definitely NSFW.

~ Countdown voices are now in progress for Moshi, Kono Sekai ni Kami-sama ga Iru to Suru Naraba., Hyakka Hyakurou ~Sengoku Ninpou-chou~ and Diabolik Lovers: Lunatic Parade! Due to the timing of this issue, there are only about 4 days’ worth left. I apologise for this, and hope you made it in time to hear from your favourite characters!

~ D3P has revealed that there will be free DLC for Hyakka Hyakurou ~Sengoku Ninpou-chou~ that will contain main character-specific supplemental scenarios, including an exclusive CG. They’ll be released weekly: Gekkamaru: 25/2/2016, Kuroyuki: 3/3/2016, Choujirou: 10/3/2016, Hanzou: 17/3/2016 and Goemon: 24/3/2016.

~ Kamigami no Asobi InFinite announced one of the perks of preordering early- earlybirds that make it in time will be treated to the “Brightness Accordion Calendar”, which is a May 2016~April 2017 double-sided, collapsible calendar illustrated by the game’s artist, Kazuki Yone. It’s the cover image of this issue.

~ An anime adaptation of Marginal #4 has been confirmed! It was first announced through the Pythagoras Production Special Information PV uploaded on Rejet’s official YouTube channel.

~ The official website of Blackish House sideA→ opens! It will be the first of two Blackish House games, with sideA enabling players to complete the routes of Ugajin Rei, Kisaki Tougo, Shiiba Gou and Kuze Madoka. It’s currently slated for release on 27/5/2016.

~ The website of Moujuu-tachi to Ohime-sama is now open to poke around! No specific dates have been announced yet, but it will be released sometime in 2016.

~ The teaser site of Taishou x Alice ~all in one~ is now accessible! ~all in one~, as its name implies, will be a PC-to-PSV port of all four Taishou x Alice games rolled into one bundle. It should be released sometime in 2016.

~ Doujin R18+ otome brand agony announced their next title on DL Site Girl’s Maniax. It’s the latter half of their “Majo no Shokei-bi” series entitled “~Saiai Naru Yoake e~ “, and is slated for release in late December 2017.

~ Famitsuu “Cross Reviewed” three otome PSV titles: Hyakka Hyakurou ~Sengoku Ninpou-chou~, Diabolik Lovers: Lunatic Parade and Moshi, Kono Sekai ni Kami-sama ga Iru to Suru Naraba. Hyakka Hyakurou was issued Famitsuu Gold, scoring 33/40 (8/8/8/9), along with Diabolik Lovers: Lunatic Parade, scoring 32/40 (8/8/8/8). 1. Fiona

Thank you so much for your hard work and for sharing this info with us.
I guess, you meant MoshiKami was one point shy of Silver, as Gold 32-34, and Silver 30-31.

    • Hi Fiona, thank you for reading!

It’s my pleasure. I’m happy this post is useful!

Oh God, I did mean Silver… Thank you very much for pointing this out for me; I’ll change it right away.

Thanks again, and I hope you’ll continue to enjoy reading my posts!

  2. I woke up this morning only to find a “Sunday newspaper” post about otome gaming www this is a super cute idea! Thanks for all your hard work! You’re super dedicated, far more than I am! I’ll re-check websites for games I’m interested in every once in a while, but I usually forget to do it very often so I only ever end up checking like once or twice a month lol xD I’m looking forward to the weekly posts 🙂 it’s like getting the Sunday post just about otome games haha

    • Thank you very much for the kind words, Usagi! I’m happy you like this idea. Before I started this blog, I was like that as well. I’m sure some weeks will be slower than others, so I’m trying to think of other ideas to integrate into the Sunday Mail. 😊

  3. Wah, this is such a nice idea! I’ve been totally lost to where I could find compiled information on otome news. Sometimes I just see something interesting on Twitter, when I check once in a while. Thank you for your đeication 😍

    • Thank you, Haruna!

You’re welcome! It’s a pretty simple post to construct, but I guess it’s a matter of time consumption. I check different sites on different days and double check everything on Saturday/Sunday. That way, the “workload” is spread more evenly and won’t ever feel like a “chore”.

Since I know you’re familiar with Japanese, http://otomex.net/ is a good place. It tends to update every 3~4 days, though the downside is that sometimes it can go days without an update due to the owner’s personal life. Also, there can be a lot to read through and some information doubles up. I’ve chosen to focus on otome game news, and only recent titles at that (unless there are special updates regarding older ones) since most readers come to this blog for up-to-date information.

      • Thanks for the recommendation, I’ll check the website once in a while then. 🙂

Yeah, it’s probably good to divide workload. I think what demotivates bloggers is having the thought “it’s a chore” when writing posts, me included.
